St James’s hosts inclusive services and a cultural programme. We seek to be a welcoming space for people to reflect, create and debate.
St James’s is a place to explore, reflect, pray, and support all who are in need. We are a Church of England parish in the Anglican Communion.
We host a year-round creative programme encompassing music, visual art and spoken word.
We offer hospitality to people going through homelessness and speak out on issues of injustice, especially concerning refugees, asylum, racial justice, and LGBTQ+ issues.
St James’s strives to advocate for earth justice and to develop deeper connections with nature.
We aim to be a place where you can belong. We have a unique history, and the beauty of our building is widely known. Our community commits to faith in action: social and environmental justice; creativity. and the arts
We strive to be a Eucharist-centred, diverse and inclusive Christian community promoting life in abundance, wellbeing and dignity for all.
St James’s Piccadilly has been at the heart of its community since 1684. We invite you to play your part in securing this historic place for generations to come.
It costs £5,000 each day to keep the doors of St James’s open to all who already need us.
A reimagined St James’s realised. A redesigned garden, courtyard and new building capacity—all fully accessible— will provide beautiful spaces for all as well as improving our environmental performance.
Whether shooting a blockbuster TV series or creating a unique corporate event, every hire at St James’s helps our works within the community.

St James’s congregation is on the move: you’re invited to make a pilgrimage together. From early in 2027, into 2028, those of us who usually come to church at St James’s in Piccadilly will be gathering at 11am every Sunday at St Pancras Euston Road. This is because St James’s building will be temporarily closed for restoration and refurbishment as part of the ‘Wren Project’.
Making this pilgrimage, a journey with a purpose, away from our physical ‘home’ means that we’ll be breaking bread at the Eucharist in a different place for a while, gathering around a different altar, but saying the same words; we are all one body because we all share in one bread. And as pilgrims, we have an opportunity to travel together with a sense of adventure, growing and deepening in our faith. Over the coming months, we’ll be discussing the meaning and process of all this together, so do come along to any of the gatherings under the Pilgrim banner and have your say! Speaking personally, I know that setting out on a pilgrimage is always a mixed time; of trepidation, uncertainty, excitement and curiosity; I’m so thankful for the opportunity to travel as part of this church at this time of transformation and adventure. One of the blessings we often use at our services is that we will ‘walk with the saints in faith and truth and gentleness.’ Let’s do this together, with St James, the pilgrim saint, as our guide. Come with us: we can’t be St James’s without you.

Everyone is welcome to join our bi-monthly Theological Reading Group. We will be coming together on a Sunday to illuminate scripture through a selection of texts that span a breadth of history and textual types. There will be a theme for each session and collection of texts.
St James’s and St Pancras are committing to work together to help each other. The Revd Lucy Winkett was licensed as Priest in Charge of St Pancras on 29 November 2023, in addition to her current duties as Rector of St James’s Piccadilly. The clergy and lay teams will work together to help both churches flourish into the future.
