Filming at St James’s brings added social value

A unique location
Designed by Christopher Wren, St James’s Church was consecrated in 1684. With its atmospheric courtyard, elegant red brick façade, majestic interior and peaceful garden, St James’s offers a versatile setting perfect for period dramas, contemporary stories and everything in between.
Inside the church, clear glass windows flood the space with dappled light. There are wooden galleries on three sides, a spectacular vaulted ceiling and a magnificent organ and reredos, both the work of master carver Grinling Gibbons. Outside there is a spacious stone courtyard and a beautiful fountain leading to the award-winning Southwood Garden which offers a peaceful green space filled with seasonal planting.
The church has been the location for a variety of productions, from Netflix drama Bridgerton to Jamie and Jimmy’s Friday Night Feast.
Additional facilities
In addition to acting as a filming location, St James’s has been used for a variety of other film-related activities. It’s church hall and other spaces are regularly used for casting (BAFTA is a neighbour) and we are a regular casting venue for the Harry Potter franchise.
We have also been used for hair and make-up, wardrobe or facilities for extras, whether for filming taking place on site, or in the surrounding area. The courtyard (which already hosts a regular street food market) is well suited to on-location catering facilities. Such uses have been deployed both during using the church and its grounds as a location, but also for productions being filmed on Piccadilly, Jermyn Street or other nearby West End locations within in easy reach of St James’s.
Daily rates for filming:
Church £4,000
Garden: £2,500
Courtyard: £2,000
Combined spaces and longer-term rates by arrangement.
