Mariama joined St James’s in September 2020 following her ordination. She is Head of Education at the Salters’ Company in the City of London and combines this role with a part-time curacy. Prior to this, Mariama worked in secondary and tertiary education, and community outreach. She is a modern linguist, having completed her undergraduate degree in French and Spanish at the University of St Andrews, with a year abroad in Santiago de Compostela. Her MPhil and PhD at the University of Cambridge focused on European Literature and History.

In 2009, Mariama was awarded the Fulbright Scholarship to New York University. She also completed an MA in Careers Education and Coaching at the University of Derby in 2018. Mariama is committed to inclusivity and working to enable all, especially young people and women, to fully flourish and thrive.
