Rebekah Yinuo Tan was born in August 2006 in Shanghai. Inspired to become a concert pianist after hearing Chopin’s music in a live concert when she was 7, she started taking formal piano lessons half a year later with Zijie Wu.

A service of choral evensong sung by this year’s Genesis Sixteen cohort, The Sixteen’s free young artists’ programme.

Conducted by Harry Christophers CBE, Eamonn Dougan, and this year’s conducting scholar Florence Price, the choir will sing an introit, Magnificat and Nunc dimittis by 16th-century composer Orlande de Lassus, complimented by a premiere performance of Preces & Responses by The Sixteen alto and composer, Kim Porter, and a contemporary anthem by Irish composer, Eoghan Desmond. The service will be recorded for future broadcast on BBC Radio 3, to be played on Wednesday 5th August 2026.
Please arrive no later than 4.45pm so we can get everyone seated before the BBC start recording.
Genesis Sixteen will also perform at St James’s Church, Piccadilly on Saturday 11 July as part of The Sixteen’s wider one-day choral festival, Sounds Sublime.
