Soul at Saint James

In collaboration with the Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir

Do you love gospel music?

Whether you go to church or not—whether you identify as Christian, spiritual, agnostic, or none of the above—if you love music and the way it brings people together, this is for you.

Join us at Soul at Saint James and sing side by side with friends, old and new. Experience the energy, joy, and connection that gospel music creates—uplifting voices and bringing people together in a powerful shared moment.

This is no ordinary service. It’s an evening designed to meet you wherever you are in life: energising, restorative, and full of soul. Singing gospel music doesn’t just open the lungs—it opens hearts and builds community.

Part workshop, part concert, part social, Soul at Saint James takes place on Sunday evenings at St James’s Church Piccadilly. It’s free, lasts just over an hour, and is open to everyone—including those who’d prefer to sit back and soak up the sound.

You’ll be guided by one of London’s finest gospel choirs, Soul Sanctuary, with music, reflections, poetry and more woven throughout the evening. Expect something powerful, joyful, and deeply moving.

The uplifting power of Gospel music

“Gospel music has an incredible power to connect with each of us in a unique way. The emotional and spiritual connection that is rooted deep in this soulful music still resonates with us in the 21st century and has influenced pop culture around the globe. At St James’s we want to be a place of meaningful celebration and reflection through music especially for people that may not feel comfortable being inside a church. Soul at Saint James was born in collaboration with Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir to reimagine what the idea of “Church” could be, where everyone is included and celebrated, and offered the time to engage with their journey on their own terms. We hope to be a place of inclusion and create a space for everyone to enjoy the uplifting power of Gospel music.”
