Changemakers

St James’s Changemakers is a new initiative that aims to develop young leaders aged 18-30 who are committed to positive social change.

An inspiring 18-month journey that blends creativity, equity, and systems change to:

  • Empower young leaders to imagine a better world—and act to create it

  • Equip values-led changemakers with the mindset and tools to drive real impact

  • Grow their skills, networks, and influence to amplify their leadership

  • Deepen their understanding of interconnected systems to catalyse societal change

Funded youth-led projects in the community

Our Changemakers will be comfortable with being uncomfortable. They will learn how to work through difference and find common ground. They will be able to examine how positive social change can be implemented at individual, collective, and institutional levels.

Across the three pillars of the programme, the Changemakers will be involved in five programme strands that work together.

  • Gathering – They will learn how to tell their story effectively and share the importance of their work.
  • Network – They will build a new network through their cohort and attendance at exhibitions, residentials, workshops, and talks.
  • Resources and Training – They will develop existing and new skills through masterclasses and workshops with inspirational activists and changemakers.
  • Imagining the Future – Our Changemakers will engage in personal development through 1:1 mentoring with professionals, and peer mentoring with young people from global partners.
  • Being a Changemaker – The programme concludes with an invitation to apply for funding to apply their learning throughout the programme into real, tangible change in their community. Working collaboratively with each other, their newfound networks, and their mentors, they will create the change they want to see.
