Wojtek Prażuch was born on October 24, 2001, in Kraków, Poland. He received his Bachelor degree at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin where he was studying with Nicolas Altstaedt and Isang Enders.

He is a laureate of several prestigious cello competitions recommended by the Center for Artistic Education and the Polish Ministry of Culture. These include the 23rd Zdzislawa Bienczycka National Cello Competition in Bydgoszcz, the 17th and 16th Juliusz Zarebski International Music Competitions in Warsaw—held under the honorary patronage of the
    President of Poland, Andrzej Duda.

Wojciech regularly participates in major music festivals and masterclasses the International Cello Academy in Klaipeda, the Blackmore International Music Academy in Berlin, the Rutesheim Cello Academy, the Notos Quartet Academy in Weikersheim (featuring special guest Jörg Widmann), the European Music Institute Masterclasses in Vienna, the Festival
Academy “Musiktage der Region Seefeld,” the Austrian festival “Allegro Vivo,” the 64th Weimar Masterclasses and the „Echo Arts Munich” Masterclasses.

In 2013, he was invited to join the orchestra of the European Krzysztof Penderecki Music Centre, which brings together some of Poland’s most promising young instrumentalists.
Wojtek has refined his artistry under the guidance of world-renowned cellists such as Nicolas Altstaedt, Andrzej Bauer, Claudio Bohórquez, David Geringas, Adam Krzeszowiec,
Kazimierz Michalik, Troels Svane, Miklós Perényi, Wen-Sinn Yang, Steven Isserlis and Karine Georgian—a student of Mstislav Rostropovich and winner of the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow—who praised him as “an extremely talented young cellist with a wonderful musical imagination and innate musicality.”

In 2025, Wojciech was awarded a prestigious scholarship from the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, dedicated to supporting Poland’s most accomplished artists. He has also been a recipient of scholarships from the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage for artistic achievement, and from the National Children’s Fund, which supports gifted youth
across Poland in reaching their full artistic and intellectual potential.

He is also a laureate of the Stringtime NiederRhein Gocher Streicher-Akademie, which gave him the opportunity to perform concerts across Germany. Additionally, he participated in the contemporary music festival “Klang, Zeit, Ort” in Berlin.

Wojtek was a finalist at the International Young Musician Competition in Stockport, where he performed Schumann’s Cello Concerto with orchestra under the baton of Timothy Redmond.
He was awarded a schoolarship from Schoenfeld Music Society which allowed him to travel to China for a Schoenefeld International String Competition in Harbin.
Wojciech has performed in Germany, Hungary, Austria, Croatia, Slovakia, France, and Switzerland, and remains an active performer throughout Poland. He plays a copy of an Andrea Amati cello built by luthier Wojciech Topa.
