Mari Imai, Japanese soprano, developed her love of music only very recently. Her love for singing was inspired by beautiful a Capella works performed across London during her UK visit back in 2017.

    Artist bio

    Her first professor was Barbara Bonnie. Under her guidance she won several competitions such as Silver Award at the 25th Osaka International Music Competition, Bronze Award at the
    25th Kyushu Music Competition and the Encouragement Award at the 15th Tokushima University Music Competition to mention some. One of her memorable performances was with the Czechoslovakian string quartet Wihan where the host described her as having the voice of an angel.

    Mari enjoys of a versatile career as a designer for the Toyota Motor Corporation, associate professor at the Ritsumeikan University and holds a Doctorate at the Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine. She currently specialises in Art and Brain Science. She also loves painting and calligraphy. Her work can be seen at several Art Therapy Centres across the UK; the Institute of Aging Medicine (Tohoku University) and Nara Medical University Hospital in Japan.
