Unyimeabasi Udoh talks about their new artwork for St James’s

In this interview, the artist and 2022-23 Royal Academy Starr Fellow Unyimeabasi Udoh talks with Revd Dr Ayla Lepine, Associate Rector of St James’s Piccadilly, about Udoh’s newly commissioned work for the side chapel St James’s. This artwork, Untitled (Altar Piece), will be in the chapel from 18 March until 8 April, across Passiontide, Holy Week and Easter.

My small cardboard house

Daria, who is a student at Eaton Square School near St James’s, has written an award-winning poem about homelessness at Christmas. The poetry competition was judged by Stephen Fry, and this poem was commissioned as the first in an annual series for the St James’s Christmas for All Gala Concert.

Cugoano250 art commission and curated events

A new permanent artwork commemorating the 250th anniversary of the baptism of Quobna Ottobah Cugoano has been unveiled at St James’s Church, Piccadilly. Cugoano was one of the most prominent abolitionists of 18th century London and a significant but largely forgotten figure in Black British history.
