The Head Verger plays a key role in the life of St James’s, overseeing the care of the church building and ensuring that services and events run smoothly. From preparing the church for worship and special occasions, to coordinating the verger team and supporting the clergy, the Head Verger helps create a welcoming and orderly environment for all who visit. They also take responsibility for the upkeep of vestments, sacred vessels, and liturgical furnishings, as well as assisting with processions and ceremonial duties.
