Joanna joined St James’s as a member of the congregation in 2019 and has been involved as a volunteer with many of the social outreach projects. Prior to joining the staff team, she worked as a case worker with refugees at Crisis homelessness charity. She has had a varied career including managing a volunteering service and community grants scheme across the City of London Square Mile; fundraising for an academic society; and coordinating projects for the London District of the Methodist Church. She has also run an interior design business and enjoys creating cosy spaces!
Passionate about theology, Joanna recently completed an MA Religion in which she explored interfaith dialogue between Christianity and Islam through the writings of a Sufi scholar and a Christian mystic. She loves the creative, adventurous and inclusive values of St James’s and is excited about how these can align with people of other faiths and none. She brings this enthusiasm to growing external partnerships, and to ensuring that the social justice and earth justice projects, hospitality, and volunteering in all its forms are at the heart of parish life.
