SOHO SERVICE
An exploration of the relationship between art, music and religion in London. From gospel-inspired grime to the politics of faith that inspire modern art and theatre today, Soho Service is not defined by medium or genre but tries to encapsulate London and everything that our relationship with religion affects. We challenge the assertion that faith and culture in London is limited to the paintings by the masters in the National Gallery and want to explore how our relationship with faith continues to define and influence our expressive culture in London today.
Samuel Isaac is joined by Revd Dr Ayla Lepine, Ahmenson Fellow in Art and Religion at the National Gallery and soon-to-be Rector at St James’, Piccadilly.
Ayla takes us through three of her favourite pieces of art and music and discusses the importance of art in our national conversation. They also discuss the role of art in activism and in her personal relationship with faith.
