You will need

5 litre container with a lid

Storage space

Gloves

Strainer and bucket

Comfrey and / or stinging nettles, both leaves and stems

Method

Pack the 5 litre container with comfrey leaves or nettles (without seeds)

Fill with water

Put a lid on container (it really smells!)

Store for 4 weeks

Wear glove to open the container and strain the liquid into a bucket. Don’t spill it as the smell will linger

Put the liquid back into the 5 litre container and put the strained leaves onto the compost.

Dilute with water 1:10 in your watering can and add to your vegetables and other plants when watering.

Comfrey and nettles are also great as mulch or compost activator.

Comfrey as an excellent compost activator and mulch for tomato plants. It is high in nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

Nettles are also great for mulching generally, and as a compost activator. They are high in nitrogen, calcium and magnesium.
