St James’s hosts inclusive services and a cultural programme. We seek to be a welcoming space for people to reflect, create and debate.
St James’s is a place to explore, reflect, pray, and support all who are in need. We are a Church of England parish in the Anglican Communion. This is a place for everyone who’s wondering about life’s big questions and striving for a better world.
We host a year-round cultural programme encompassing music, visual art and spoken word, drawing on St James’s rich cultural history including artists, writers and musicians Mary Beale, Mary Delany, William Blake, Ottobah Cugoano and Leopold Stokowski.
We try to put our faith into action by educating ourselves and speaking out on issues of injustice, especially concerning refugees, asylum, earth and racial justice, and LGBTQ+ issues.
We aspire to be a home where everyone can belong. We’re known locally and globally for our unique history and beauty, as well as faith in action, creativity and the arts, and a commitment to social and environmental justice.
We strive to be a Eucharist-centred, diverse and inclusive Christian community promoting life in abundance, wellbeing and dignity for all.
St James’s Piccadilly has been at the heart of its community since 1684. We invite you to play your part in securing this historic place for generations to come.

The Music Scholars programme at St James’s started in the Autumn of 2021. Their musical talents and creativity will enhance the music of our services until the end of July 2022.
Hello! My name is Sydney Grace Mariano and I am incredibly excited to be one of St James’s, Piccadilly’s music scholars. I recently graduated with a Masters from the Royal Academy of Music in 2021 and am currently continuing my studies in London under the mentorship of Ying Xue of the Doric String Quartet. I have a deep passion for playing the violin and am eager to contribute to the music ministry at St. James.
For about fourteen years up until I travelled to London, I played at my local church in California every Sunday. It was a joy not only to share my gifts with God but also with a community that was able to watch me grow until I decided to pursue a career in classical music. I have played for weddings, funerals, annual talent shows, Winter and Fall Concerts, picnics, and community gatherings. The duration of my time playing at mass every Sunday soon inspired other musicians to join in and I was able to start an instrumental division of the music ministry.
Eventually, as I moved on to study Violin Performance for my Undergraduate Degree at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, I additionally played at the church on campus. I don’t think I can ever remember a time when I did not associate going to church with participating in the music ministry, since I believe sharing my music has contributed to my passion in touching others.
Alongside freelancing, performing, and developing my professional career, I currently play 2nd Violin in the Kyan Quartet. It is a mission of mine to connect classical performance with the wider community as well as bring Chamber Music into the Music Ministry, and I, along with my quartet, hope to perform for all of you soon.
