At St James’s we are committed to the principle that members of our community are able to give notices. Thank you for joining us in this important connecting of liturgy to life.
To help the notices move swiftly, and not overbalance the service, please observe the following charter, drawn up by the Church Council.
To help the notices move swiftly, and not overbalance the service, please observe the following charter, drawn up by the Church Council.
- Do not announce, or repeat information, which already appears in that day's service sheet.
- Aim to inform. The notices are not the place to seek to educate or persuade. If there is an issue you wish to air, simply announce the event or opportunity and indicate where interested parties may find you after the service to hear more. If information about the event you are promoting already appears in the notice sheet, do not repeat it; again, simply indicate where interested parties may find you after the service to hear more about it.
- The notices are not the vehicle for expressing moral outrage. Avoid anything likely to be thought partisan, where you advocate a strong personal view or attitude on a matter about which there are likely to be reasonably held varying views amongst the St James's community.
- Be brief and concise: a 30 second limit will be graciously but consistently enforced.
