Dear Friends of St James's
HOLY WEEK AND EASTER 2020
This is a Holy Week and Easter like no other any of us will have experienced before. If you would like to join in liturgy and prayer this week, there are a number of ways to do this.
Services are being live-streamed on our YouTube channel every day during Holy Week at midday and 6pm. Visit our website for details of all the Holy Week services and media links. New videos with music recorded last month in the church, and daily reflections from all the clergy, are being uploaded every day.
A group of St James's people are joining together to say Compline every night at 9pm on the Zoom platform. If you are interested in joining, please email Adolfo Sansolini adolfosansolini@gmail.com
ACCESSING THE SUNDAY SERVICE BY PHONE
Every Sunday after the 11.00am service, a recording will be made available which you can access by phone. Please do pass this message on to anyone you know who does not have internet access. Here's how to do it:
COFFEE AFTER THE SERVICE THIS SUNDAY - EASTER DAY
Claire Wright is kindly organising 'Zoom Coffee' after the service on Easter Day. This is an opportunity to say a brief hello, see some familiar faces, and perhaps use the Zoom chat function to leave messages. If you would like to join in at 12.00 on Easter day, please email Claire on wintershelter@sjp.org.uk and she will send you an invitation (with the caveat that if there is overwhelming interest in this Claire may have to limit numbers).
MORE DEATH CAFES
Thank you to Lia Shimada who has been facilitating these online for us. She has offered some more dates. See more here
AND FINALLY....
In the past couple of weeks, almost overnight, St James's Church lost virtually all of its income as the building closed, the daily markets shut, our concert programme was suspended and other income disappeared. We have sent our staff home, the majority furloughed, contracts changed, hours and salaries reduced. Please look at the message and request for help that we have posted here. We need any help you can give.
In the meantime, please let us know if there are ways we can help or support you, for example, by being part of a contact group. If you do want to be part of this network of keeping in touch, it's never too late! Please email Joan pastoralcoordinator@sjp.org.uk
Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions, requests, suggestions and thoughts.
With prayers for all those who are directly affected by the coronavirus pandemic, and with prayers for all of us as we take our steps along the way this week towards Good Friday and Easter Day.
