About Music, Arts & Ideas

“To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour.”
William Blake, Auguries of Innocence, c.1803

Musicians, thinkers, poets and artists have been at the core of life and St James’s Church for centuries. Today this cherished and sacred public space is open throughout the year and plays host to a wide-ranging cultural programme of both free and ticketed events and exhibitions, to stimulate the imagination and nourish the soul.

Regular events include lunchtime recitals, a soul music festival in our courtyard, cabaret, evening concerts, talks by some of today’s leading writers and thinkers, as well as art installations, exhibitions and further themed festivals.
