NEWS RELEASE Launch of course Love for the Future: Being at Home on the Earth.
Climate change, pollution and diminishing resources mean that the future will be difficult. We face an environmental crisis. Clearly we need technological solutions to some of our problems, and appropriate political and social programmes. However, to meet the challenge we must also change ourselves. We need the courage to face up to what is happening, the determination to work at the problems, and the freedom to let go of the old ways of living which are causing such damage to the earth.
The course explores Biblical sources and the work of theologians. It encourages reflection on people’s personal experiences, and draws on contemporary methods such as mindfulness, to discover the spiritual resources available to help face the future. It looks at how different kinds of prayer and action enable people to develop a sense of wonder about creation, and the simplicity, compassion, hope, wisdom and love that will be needed to create a better future. It also introduces activities for the group members to do together and separately.
