19 April 2014 EASTER EVE (HOLY SATURDAY)
7.30pm We gather for a meditative service based on the Office of Vespers which will include an opportunity to offer a poem, some thoughts, a reading. Please bring something to read if you wish to. A bring-and-share meal will follow in the Church Hall. We shall also be preparing bread to use at the Easter Day Dawn Eucharist.
An overnight Easter Vigil is held for those who wish to participate. The pattern is as in previous years: each person volunteers to remain awake for one hour, so that no one need remain awake all night unless they wish to. At 10pm there is a service of Compline to prepare for the Vigil. Everyone is welcome at this. Those staying for the Vigil then remain after the church doors are locked at 1030pm. For security reasons please register in advance with the Parish Secretary (email or call 020 7734 4511 ext 1 during office hours)
20 April 2014 EASTER DAY :: ALLELUIA CHRIST IS RISEN The church doors are opened at 5am
0545 Dawn Eucharist begins outside during which the newly lit Paschal Candle is borne aloft into the darkened church. Once there, the Exultet is sung and we renew our baptismal vows around the font. The celebration returns outside where the Eucharist is celebrated using bread that has risen overnight. Followed by procession to Piccadilly Circus to proclaim the Resurrection. Bring any noisy, celebratory items you may have (whistles, drums, whatever). Breakfast follows, to which you are invited.
